James C. Polan

James C. Polan serves as Vice President of the Office of Health and Agribusiness at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).  The Office of Health and Agribusiness is responsible for underwriting financing using all of DFC’s products for a wide variety of investment projects in developing and emerging market countries with an emphasis on impact sectors focusing on Health and Agribusiness.

Mr. Polan had served as Vice President for the Office of Development Credit since January 2019. Between 2003 and 2019, he was the Vice-President of the Small and Medium Finance Department of at OPIC.

Additionally, Mr. Polan provided leadership on the agency’s African and small and medium enterprise initiatives and played a key role in the creation of OPIC’s efforts to increase investments in the sector.

Prior to joining the agency, Mr. Polan was Managing Director of Ngami Group Limited in Gaborone, Botswana, served as Chief Executive Officer for Healthcare Holdings (PTY) Ltd. in Gaborone, and was Manager of the Projects and Property Development Divisions for the Botswana Development Corporation Limited.

Mr. Polan received a B.A. in Business Economics from Connecticut College and an MBA in Finance from the University of London. He also attended the London School of Economics and Political Science.
